  3. printing productivity package for Macintoshes connected to Novell NetWare
  4. LANs at NETWORLD BOSTON. The package, consisting of Digital Products' high
  5. speed print server, LANSprint, and Mosaic for Macintosh from Insight
  6. Development Corp., allows Macintoshes to share normal non-PostScript HP
  7. LaserJet and DeskJet printers with DOS based PCs and increases graphics
  8. printing speeds by up to 5 times. PCs connected to the network can also
  9. see the same speed increases.

  12. for Mac users on a Novell network. Mosaic for Macintosh lets Mac users
  13. cost-effectively print to the same HP or PCL based printers used by DOS
  14. based PCs, thus alleviating the need for a LaserWriter or other expensive
  15. PostScript options," said Cornelius "Pete" Peterson, president of Digital
  16. Products. "LANSprint allows graphics, which are included in a majority of
  17. Macintosh applications, to print much faster than they can normally print
  18. on a Novell network."

  21. tested LANSprint with Mosaic for Macintosh and found that it significantly
  22. improves the printing speed of graphics and mixed text and graphics

  25. LANSprint uses proprietary Direct Memory Access technology to break through
  26. the graphics printing bottleneck of Novell LANs. NetWare sends data to the
  27. printer at a rate of 2,000 to 8,000 bytes/seconds (bps). LANSprint has a
  28. maximum speed of approximately 100,000 bps, which allows LANsprint to more
  29. effectively utilize Hewlett-Packard's LaserJet IIIP, III and IIlSi, which
  30. are able to accept and print graphics data at speeds from 50,000-100,000
  31. bps.

  33. Mosaic for Macintosh software allows Macintosh users to print text and
  34. graphics documents to Hewlett-Packard LaserJet, DeskJet printers and
  35. PCL-based printers installed on a Novell LAN without the need for
  36. PostScript hardware or adapters. Mosaic for Macintosh is user transparent
  37. and offers true WYSIWYG performance. Mosaic for Macintosh requires a
  38. Macintosh computer with at least 1MB of memory and the Macintosh operating
  39. system version 6.0 or above.

  41. LANSprint can be easily installed in any PC on the LAN and reduces the CPU
  42. strain associated with printing on a non-dedicated workstation.

  44. LANSprint supports NetWare ELS II and NetWare v. 2.15+ and 3.0+. The
  45. product consists of a VAP (Value Added Process) or NLM (Network Loadable
  46. Module) and an add-in board. LANSprint also requires a small TSR on the
  47. host workstation.

  50. three user version and $945 for a ten user version. The LANSprint and
